Overview:
After finding an old Castle Brian guarding a massive 'mech factory in 3058, the mercenary unit Terra's Pryde claimed the planet as their own, calling it Pryde Rock. They then called in Comstar, who they had done work for in the past, and gave the once mystical organization control of the facilities for 15 years in exchange for unknown concessions in other areas.

The factory had complete specifications for several old Star League 'mechs including the THG-11E Thug. Having more heat sinks then it needed, this mech was a prime candidate for retrofitting. Using Comstar's grasp on Clan technology, the entire weapon system was pulled out, replaced by clan equivalent weaponry, and was ready for full scale production by January of 3060.

Every single part used to produce the Thug is built on Pryde Rock, rather than being shipped in from other planets. This results in a highly centralized design concept and keeps the construction of the mech from being dependent on other nations, therefore guaranteeing the Thug's continued production for years to come.

Capabilities:
The communications and targeting gear, often affectionately called the Talk & Trac 10 by techs, is one of the few non-weapon changes in the Thug. It came out of the discovery that the ancient TharHes targeting computer developed conflicts with the new clan weaponry after repeated firings. No one could figure out the problem, so the decision to completely redesign all of the electronic systems in the new 'mech was forced. From the beginning, the Rock Talk and Rock Trac were designed to work closely together but the end product far surpassed the original specifications. The combined Talk & Trac 10 system can monitor and maintain communications with dozens of units. Using these communications, it can build a reliable map of unit integrity for entire companies at a time, and pinpoint a weak link in the enemy order of battle. (Note: this effect can be simulated by giving any unit lead by a Thug a +1 initiative)

The Thug maintains the same Endo-Steel construction as the original, as well as the massive 15.5 tons of armor. In addition, the Thug continues the use of the Pitban 320 standard fusion engine. While weighing more then an Extra-Light engine, the combination of heavy armor and the more compact Pitban makes the Thug extremely difficult to hurt. Add in the Cellular Ammunition Storage Equipment (CASE) protecting the ammo in both torsos, and the mech is nearly indestructible.

The Thug's main weapons are the twin Starslayer-C Extended Range Particle Projection Cannons located in the arms. Offering the same firepower and range as their Clan equivalents, they provide unmatched punch against most Inner Sphere targets and keep Clans targets on their toes as well.

Supporting the Particle Cannons, are two Cruncher-C Streak Short Range Missile systems in each side of the torso and one Pinpricker-C Medium Pulse Laser in the center torso. Like the orginal, these systems provide short-range firepower and free the Thug's arms for hand-to-hand combat. The entire weapon load works well, providing devastating firepower when unleashed all at once, though the heat buildup from such an Alpha Strike keeps it from happening more then three or four times before forcing the 'mech to cool down. Only the strongest 'mechs can withstand that kind of barrage.

Battle History:
What is believed to be the Prototype Thug fought with First Pryde in the St. Ives Compact against the Cappellan forces attempting to reunite the realm. After a series of small fire-fights across multiple worlds, First Pryde attempted to make a stand on St. Ives itself but was pushed off along with the other defenders. In one battle, a company of light and medium 'Mechs broke through the main battlelines and hit First Pryde's command lance. No one knows what happened as communications broke down after the battle began. It is known however that the Thug was the only 'Mech standing when First Pryde reinforcements arrived.

'Mechs & Warriors:
Pryde One, piloted by Medron Pryde, is the 'Mech involved in the fight above. While information is scarce, it is known that he did not pilot the Thug away from the battle field and he has never piloted a 'Mech since. Intelligence accounts suggest that his inner ear was badly damaged in the fight and he is now physically incapable of piloting. It is unclear at this time who will earn command of First Pryde and, by extension, pilot Pryde One.

Variants:
At present, Pryde Rock Industries offers only one variant of the THG-PR1 Thug. Product of an earlier design that was scratched because of excess heat, the version carries two FarStar-C Extended Range Medium Lasers in the center torso, replacing the Pinpricker laser. Though offering extended range, the company suggests using the standard configuration because of it's extended Alpha Strike capabilities.

Deployment
As with most present Comstar construction, half of the Thugs produced go to the Com Guards, with the other half going to the Rasalhague Kungsarme. Terra's Pryde is also known to field at least one of these 'mechs seen fighting under Terra's Pryde colors in the St. Ives Compact against invading Liao forces.
