Overview:
Commissioned in 2499, the Guillotine saw action in every major Star League conflict. Therefore, when Pryde Rock chose their eighth 'Mech to produce, they chose to use this base design as it was so well known to be a good 'Mech in nearly all situations. The upgraded Guillotine met Comstar observers for the first time in January of 3061, only a few days after the prototype Beowulf. It actually started production in February however after receiving rave reviews from the observers.

Capabilites:
The gift of her new laser emitters, replacing the old Exostar II lasers, gives this venerable but very nimble design a much needed increase in firepower at the cost of extra heat. The new missile system reinforces the Farstar-Cs with extra closer-range punch as well, but the old Sunglow Large Laser is relegated to a secondary role as the Farstar-Cs match her range and nearly match her firepower for far less heat.

As with most of the PRI upgrades the increased firepower results in increased heat not offset by heat dissipation, forcing the pilot to exercise caution before firing all weapons. Like other Pryde Rock production, it mounts the Talk & Trac 10, giving it superior communications and targeting ability.

Deployment
As with most Comstar production, all Guillotines are sent to the Republic or to the ComGuard. As with the other PRI refits, most observers believe that Terra's Pryde controls the prototype and perhaps some others. This can not be confirmed though as Terra's Pryde is very cagey about what it has used to rebuild after the heavy casualties inflicted in St. Ives and the Second Battle of Pryde Rock.
