The Fredasa is one of several small WarShip designs first built by the Clans in the mid 30th century. Now they are mainline capital WarShips in many of the surviving Clan navies. The Fredasa weighs an impressive 175,000 tons, making it somewhat smaller than the Inner Sphere's Fox Class destroyer, but the Fredasa is considerably more agile than the Fox 1s and even the Fox 2s. The Fredasa also carries less armament and armor than the standard Fox.
         The Fredasa can attain 4 Gs of acceleration in short bursts, which makes it a very fast WarShip even now. The vessel can outmaneuver most transports and has a small emergence signature as well. These qualities enable the Fredasa to pounce on a target before escort craft can mount significant opposition, which makes the vessel an ideal counter-raider. The Clans most often deploy the Fredasa as a picket ship watching for raiding forces, the type of duty the design is best suited for.
         Numerous extended-range laser and plasma rifle systems provide most of the Fredasa's firepower. A quartet of RACs mounted in the vessel's nose boost the firepower directed into the Fredasa's forward arc, and a number of SRMs and LRMs provide the Fredasa's main anti-fighter firepower in the broadside and aft-quarter.   Its Valiant Lamellor ferro-carbide armor provides good protection comparable or better to most modern WarShips.
         Developed by the Raven Alliance, numerous other Clans have somehow won, stolen, or otherwise acquired the plans to build them, though often under a different name.   The Jade Falcons, Smoke Jaguars, Rasalhague Dominion, and Wolf Ascendancy all build this identical design, and the Nova Cat Confederation makes heavy use of them.
