Overview:

         Introduced at the beginning of the St. Ives War, the first Yuan Yangs spearheaded the Confederation assault into Federation space with their main spinal lasers blazing the way. To all intents and purposes, a faster Lungchuan, it is a dedicated interceptor that is now used to harass enemy formations, or to meet them in battle forward of the main warfleet, forcing the enemy out of formation. This allows the main warfleet to close the range and wipe the enemy out.
         Yuan Yangs rarely leave fleet formations, using fleet fuel reserves to recharge its jump drive, though they do use recharge stations at need as well. Like its cousins, the Yuan Yang can land on DropPorts, and very few people can differentiate them as long as the main laser's barrel is covered with the standard hatch. The tight packed systems of the Yuan Yang are difficult to maintain for the small crew though, forcing the ships to return to port often for repairs.
         Despite this problem, the Yuan Yang is heavily used in the Confederation navy, where the main spinal laser has rendered a large number of enemy ships into scrap.
