Overview:

         The Word of Blake Jihad resulted in a number of technological shifts. Most of these resulted from the Word's force multipliers that unearthed vulnerabilities in the armies of the Star League member states. Despite its technological superiority over most nations, ComStar proved no exception to this trend. Word medium and heavy BattleArmor crushed ComStar's armored exoskeletons and light BattleArmor in battle after battle. ComStar had to rely on the heavier BattleArmor of other member states to supplement them.
         They soon began work to design their own standard BattleArmor that.could take the crush of battle. Rather than use a foreign BattleArmor as the base for that design, they beefed up the Tornado suit with extra armor and weapons. The result proved very effective.

Capabilities:

         The Hurricane is a graceful looking design, and is very nimble for its size, matching the Tornado with its ease of movement. The nimbleness hides armor heavy enough to protect the wearer from even a heavy autocannon salvo or particle cannon blast while also providing stealth functions that make it hard to find. Making it even harder to kill if found, the Hurricane also sports an array of jump jets that can keep it aloft for 90 meters before shutting down. With them a Hurricane can quickly disengage or close the range for a point-blank assault with most enemies.
         The Hurricane's first weapon is the disguised battle claw in its left hand that allows it to latch onto friendly and enemy BattleMechs for transport or attack. A missile-capable modular weapon mount in the body gives it the ability to match the destructive capability of the most advanced BattleArmor designs. The standard Hurricane suit is most often fielded with a small laser that can be fired for an extended period of time before draining the suit's batteries. Alternate configurations that see use include twin LRM or SRM tubes for increased range and damage potential, and a heavy machine gun for anti-infantry work. Finally, a standard infantry Mauser rifle system is most often held in the right arm's armored glove.

Deployment

         Despite efforts to the contrary, the Hurricane did not see action until after the Jihad ended. ComStar deployed them during the long rebuilding effort that followed that war though, and to many people they became the first visual proof of ComStar's presence. To this day, only ComStar uses them, and they can be seen in the Com Guard, Explorer Corps, Shining Blade, and in New SLDF units that they take a part in.
